Our Philosophy
BECAUSE IT TASTES BETTER THAT WAY!

Uncompromising freshness is our commitment

Our dishes combine enjoyment and quality with healthy, light food. The secret of dean&david lies in the details. As a result, we only use the freshest ingredients that are free from flavour enhancers, colors or preservatives – simple, healthy food prepared by hand!

Freshness and quality are our top priority. That’s why our carefully selected ingredients are delivered fresh every morning and then processed directly. In addition, our growth should also be healthy and sustainable – a close and trusting cooperation with our customers, partners and employees is particularly important here. That’s how the dean&david family has grown successfully over the borders of Germany in the recent years, and we look forward to pursuing our philosophy and values in the future with partner who share our enthusiasm for dean&david.

THE dean&david Story

dean&david Switzerland

In 2012, Simon Schrämli adopted the franchising in Switzerland and opened the first dean&david-store in Basel within the same year. Until 2017 a further three stores in Zürich, two in Lucerne, one in Zug and a second store in Basel were established. The expansion for Switzerland is currently under way. Since 2017 dean&david Switzerland is managed by Sebastian Tobien and his young, dynamic team from the head office in Zürich.

We care, you eat

The idea for dean&david was born during David’s sabbatical year following his politics and economics studies. David travelled around the world with open eyes and was rewarded with the inspiration for his individual cuisine.

His trip to New York is reflected in the salad bars, Australia is represented by fresh juices and smoothies, while the travels to Southeast Asia are responsible for the spicy Thai curries and soups. A true potpourri of taste or, to put it another way: lifestyle with a kick of freshness! Back in Munich and in cooperation with Teresa Tesche, a nutrition specialist from Weihenstephan University, fast food was redefines and became simple, modern and urban. A hotspot for healthy trend-setters was born.

Enjoy with a good feeling

We at dean&david have always worked according to the highest and strictest hygiene standards according to HACCP: this means that all our ingredients are properly cleaned and sanitised before preparation. Our employees wash and disinfect their hands on a regular basis and always use gloves when in contact with food. Paymen or delivery can also be made completely contactless. In the course of the Corona crisis we have also introduced a number of other hygiene measures: For example, fever is measured every time our employees take up their duties. All our store employees wear protective masks. We have also equipped our checkouts with protective devices and have established the required distance of 2 metres between tables and within the queue. So you can always enjoy with a good feeling. We care, you eat.

NINE TIPS

FOR A WHOLESOME DIET

NINE TIPS

FOR A WHOLESOME DIET

What does a wholesome diet look like?
The “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährung” (DGE) e. V. has summarized current
scientific findings into simple rules. Based on these rules, we have compiled 9 tips for a wholesome diet, that you can easily integrate in your everyday life – just try it!

Enjoy diversity

No food alone contains all the nutrients. The more varied our food, the lower the risk for an unbalanced diet.

5 a day

Enjoy at least 3 servings of vegetables (about 400 g) and 2 servings of fruit (about 250 g) every day. In terms of quantity, vegetables and fruits should make up the largest food group in a wholesome diet.

Animal products and grain

MDairy products such as yogurt and cheese can be enjoyed daily, fish rather only once or twice a week and meat not more than 300 to 600 g per week. For grain products, the wholegrain variant is the best choice.

Vegetable oil

Use vegetable oils as they have more unsaturated fatty acids. For example, rapeseed, walnut, linseed or olive oil are good options.

Reduced sugar and salt

Use sugar and salt sparingly, better use herbs and spices instead.

Lots of water

Drink about 1.5 liters per day, preferably water.

Tasty and full of vitamins

Cook food as long as necessary and as short as possible while using little water and fat. A gentle preparation maintains the natural taste and protects the nutrients.

Take your time and enjoy

Even in stressful everyday life you should treat yourself to a break and not eat on the go. Slow and conscious eating promotes enjoyment and satiety.

Sufficient exercise
